Influence of Vegetation on Outdoor Thermal Comfort in a High-Altitude Tropical Megacity: Climate Change and Variability Scenarios

The objective of this paper is to show a study on the influence vegetation outdoor thermal comfort (OTC) high-altitude tropical megacity. OTC evaluated by PET (Physiological Equivalent Temperature) index and establishing three simulation scenarios: (i) Current OTC, (ii) under RCPs 4.5 8.5 (Representative Concentration Pathway), (iii) ENSO (El Niño–Southern Oscillation). results that hourly variation range current in urban areas with greater (+3.15 °C) compared impermeable areas. Outdoor stress due cold vegetated 1.29 °C lower impervious effect coverage improvement increases as phenomenon global warming intensifies. On average, current, RCP4.5, RCP8.5 scenarios for each 10% increase coverage, an 0.22, 0.24, 0.28 obtained, respectively. during scenario (vegetated areas: +16.7%; +22.7%). In context climate change variability, provides reference point decision-makers assess possible planning options improving megacities.
